Doors and Common Configurations

The majority of bifold doors are made with full length glass to allow the maximum light penetration. However, customers are by no means restricted to this design. In-fact any style of door you desire can be manufactured in any timber you specify. We can even finish your doors and frame with any colour of your choice.

All of our doors are manufactured with strength and durability in mind, which is why we use traditional mortice & tenon joints instead of dowels. All glass is toughened in accordance with British building regulations, and all of our high quality timber is kiln dried prior to use.

Although we can manufacture your doors in quality softwoods, we highly recommend that all exterior doors are constructed from hardwood. The most durable and richest timbers we recommend for external usage are, Iroko, Idigbo and sapele. All three are extremely durable and have attractive natural qualities once lacquered. Oak is also an exterior option, but you must be aware that Oak discolours easily in exposed areas, therefore requires a greater level of upkeep. A light Oak stain to Idigbo will give an almost identical appearance to Oak and will be far more cost effective.

Interior/room dividing doors can be made in any timber. The highest in character of these would be American white ash, American white oak, American black walnut and Beech. All are beautiful timbers that will enhance any property, or match existing internal doors.
